Evening sky.

Last Look   Oils on canvas board   5 x 7 inches  £ 55   $ 70

An evening study of the coast.  Light lingers in the sky.

Studio Musings...

Painted on a very chilly day this is my impression of the shore at night.

Cool.

True Blue   Oils on canvas board  7 x 5 inches   £ 55   $ 70

Cool blue colours of the coast.  Many shades of hue.

Studio Musings...

I am enjoying these tonal studies.
The browns and blues make a great pair.

Mistakenly, I picked up some Ultramarine blue as I brushed across the palette.
It was quite a shock when it touched the canvas.

However, I feel the patch of violet blue adds life to the piece.
I decided to leave it there and admit to a 'happy accident'.

Hillside view.

Wolds Way Home   Oils on canvas board   5 x 7 inches   £ 55   4 70

Colours of autumn on the Lincolnshire wolds.

Studio Musings...

Free and easy brush strokes make this painting energetic.
Rather than depict reality I like to portray the abstract qualities of light and mood.

Nightfall.

Last Lights  Oils on canvas board   7 x 5 inches   SOLD

Nightfall along the coast.  A few lights linger after sundown.

Studio Musings...

I love this little painting.
The dark colours with some grey lights appeal to me.

Standing pools at ebb tide pick up the violet and pink shades.

Walking.

A Fresh Day   Oils on canvas board   7 x 5 inches   £ 55   $ 70

Walking along the shore.  Fresh and breezy.

Studio Musings...

Mark making.  A tonal study using soft, gentle colours.

Twice.

Second Visit   Oils on canvas board   7 x 5 inches   £ 45   $ 60

Making a gesture.  The shoreline.

Studio Musings...

Nearly scrapped, this little canvas board had a reprieve.
I decided to make some gestural brush marks to liven things up.

Let there be light...
