It was a hurried studio session today.  

A quick loose study on a prepared board painted with orange/red.

Parts of the underpainting show through giving a little warmth to the piece.

My studio visit would need to be brief today.  Other jobs in the house beckoned.

Looking around I wondered what to paint.  Then I spotted an old painting.

Time for an adventure.

It was one of those occasions when my brush and the paint took control.

The old image 'morphed' into this abstract and I really like it.

The fun in my work often comes from creating something new out of an old painting.

In my box of stored pieces of work I found this and decided to give it radical treatment.

Keeping the bottom to resemble a shore, I re-worked the remainder from landscape to seascape.  It evolved into this fictional 'stormscape'.

A birthday treat...beside the sea.

How fitting to use my last Ampersand panel for this painting.

It was my birthday and we had a visit to my childhood holiday place.

Sandilands on our Lincolnshire coast was almost Mediterranean that day.

The sky was blue with clouds appearing to dance over the sea.

I have found the panels difficult at first but with a little patience

 and perseverance I mastered the smooth surface.

The third small study at the end of my afternoon work.

Pure fiction but how I might see the place.

I love mark-making and picking up colours to scrub onto the canvas.

As they begin to resemble shapes I tease out a composition.

There is no real plan...just a willingness to experiment.
