A green place.

Grassy Hill   Oils on 140lb gessoed watercolour paper  5 x 7 inches

Climbing up to the top of the hill.
Sunlight falls on grass.

Studio Musings...

Paintings can be of almost anything.
This is a simple tonal study.

Using the paper as a base I scraped back some parts to reveal a lighter hue
and scrubbed colour over other areas depicting shadows.
A red-purple colour was added here.

I took the field nearly to the top of the paper,
just leaving room for a hedge line and a little sky.

The vertical format leads my eye to the bushes at the top.
A sense of place.
